Welcome

Invitation

Dear Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I cordially invite you to Brussels for the 5th international otosclerosis symposium on 19-21 April 2023.
This symposium found its origin 2004 in Saas Fe in Switzerland than travelled to Biarritz, France in 2008 later to be organized in Siofok, Hungary in 2014, and Cracow, Poland in 2018. We must thank Prof R. Hausler for initiating this platform on otosclerosis and also Prof B. Fraysse, Prof I. Sziklai and Prof. Skarzynski to have hosted the symposium in their countries.

We proudly invite you to visit us and share your experiences and scientific results with colleagues. The trait mark of all previous symposia has been the fact that there is spacious time to connect and discus with scientist, surgeons, clinicians, engineers and audiologist who are genuinely interested in all aspects of otosclerosis.
Although the clinical management of otosclerosis may have reached a great standardization, scientifically we are still unraveling the disease. We have prepared a program that covers new causative genes, expert panels on stapes surgery, engineers on middle ear mechanics, robotic cochlear implantation for far advanced cases and much enough time to share your scientific contributions in the listed subtopics.

I am sure this meeting will provide a comprehensive update on new discoveries on Otosclerosis and its treatment, to maximize our knowledge as health care workers for the benefit of our patients.
We believe Brussels, the capital of the European Union can now be a worthy successor in this list of cities that have hosted this meeting. Please consider if your city may become the next on this list and make a bid as the next organizer.

I look forward to a fruitful meeting and welcoming you in person.

Vedat Topsakal MD. PhD.
President of the 5th International Otosclerosis Symposium
